I posted
here about musical instruments used back in the 60s that you just don't hear much anymore in today's music. I focused on the organ, harpsichord, and the tambourine.
Today's forgotten instrument is the flute:
Heard it in a Love Song (Marshall Tucker Band )
Pied Piper (Crispian St. Peters)
And of course,
Thick as a Brick (Jethro Tull, around 4:40 for the flute work).
The Marshall Tucker song often is in my head while I run easy trails. As a feminist, however, I am torn between the excellent music versus the misogynistic lyrics. Nevertheless, enjoy!
